American Idol Season 8: The Winner?
Oops, It's Kris Allen Not Adam Lambert

With all of the changes in the show's format this year, this might simultaneously be the worst season ever of "America Idol," but with the most compelling finale. From the beginning, it appeared that the contest would end with Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert going toe-to-toe or, more accurately, Oxford shoe-to-lizard-skin boot. That is, until Kris Allen, the Little Engine That Could -- and did -- quietly started chugging up the championship track. We didn't pay much attention to the Kid From Conway until he knocked our socks off with his downscaled arrangement of "She Works Hard for the Money." Suddenly he became relevant and a contender. We watched, sometimes in shock, as he survived while Matt Giraud and, especially, Allison Iraheta fell to the wayside. We even wrote him off this week after his sometimes pitchy performance of "Apologize." But then minutes later he blew us away with his interpretive rendition of Kanye West's "Heartless." Though his win would be the biggest dark horse upset in "American Idol" history, and not necessarily our preference, Kris Allen's season-long growth as an artist is the kind of victory America loves to see and support. Only a million votes separated Allen and Lambert in the Top 3 results, and with Gokey's fans most likely falling into Allen's camp, we predict that Kris Allen will be the next American Idol.

Kris has been gaining more support with each performance. He has taken risks which have paid off big time. Yes, he's chugging along like "the little engine that could", gaining momentum, and I think he will succeed.

You are right on Allen and the fact that America loves to see this story come true. But it is more than that, America as a whole doesn't prefer an extreme anything, over the more moderate subtle approach. Which in this case, Adam is the extreme. Also southern contestants have a history of getting more votes and that is Kris' advantage.
You are wrong on this season being the worst. It is actually by far one of the best! There has been more talent on this season than ever before. All of these contestants are just different in which it is harder to determine who is better. Maybe you haven't been 'wowed' by them because by this point we feel like we have seen all types of contestants, but talent wise by far this group ranks high up there with any of the other past groups.
On the flipside, it has been the judges worst season. They act like fools (as a whole) and loosing major crediblity in the eyes of the viewers.

Kris is the dark horse and will win. He's been creeping up slowly but surely. He's the male equivalent to fresh off the farm
Carrie Underwood. I saw video of Kris when he was home, he sang beautifully.

Kris will be the American Idol winner, Adam will be the international star.

I absolutely despise Adam Lambert, the singer, not the person. I, in fact, think he is one of the worst singers ever on AI. His voice is not pleasant whether he's screeching or not.
Since the only other option is Kris; I opt for that.

I don't see how anyone can think that Adam is singing with his screaming voice. I personally cant understand half what he sings. The night he did Rings of Fire, was the worse that I've ever heard on American Idol. Go Kris

well i think that adam is better than kris.. and i think that kris doesn't deserve to be this season's winner even if i like him. He just can't reach the range adam lambert has and i think that if he wins,, it will be a big disappointment for america!

Honestly, I have no bet for the finals, since Danny Gokey got eliminated. But between the two finalists, I prefer Allen more than Lambert. Lambert for me seems to extreme and seems to be "over-acting","trying hard" type. I can't even understand the words of his songs. Sorry for the Lambert fans. Allen, on the other hand is not that great either, but has more sincerity that later. Which makes me believe that Allen sould be the next American Idol.
